“The Fianna have made safe the northern wall,” said Duncan as he waved his sword high, sending the wind spiraling out at more men attempting to come over the wall.
Stephen came charging toward them. “Deirdre’s outside the castle. She was led away believing ye were wounded as I was putting out the fire.” Rubbing at his eyes, he added, “I told her to wait until I could go with her, but she would nae listen.”
“Why did ye not go after her?” demanded Angus, clutching his brother’s tunic.
“I was set upon by three of the enemy!”
